Mars Attacks - The Miniatures Game¶

This weekend, the Mars Attacks Kickstarter stuff arrived, a massive parcel:

Please, someone, create a Kickstarter which rewards painting time....

[Kickstarter]¶
Militia Miniatures - 28mm Modern Mercenaries!¶

The miniatures from the Kickstarter arrived this weekend, here is the booty.

Now, what I would really need is a Kickstarter that brings me more time for painting...

[15mm IABSM]¶
North of Caen¶

The British got completely based, basecoated in "VA74602 Vallejo Primer Black Acrylic-Polyurethane" with my Airbrush, and then sprayed from slightly above angles to create the first shading with 70.921 English Uniform from Vallejo.

2000AD: Rogue Trooper Miniatures Game¶

I took part in the "2000AD: Rogue Trooper Miniatures Game" back in 2013, even before I started this block. In the last weeks, the miniatures started to arrive.

[Warfork 40.000 - Rogue Rules]¶
Imperial Flush Space Marines¶

After only three month, the next fire team is done.

At this rate it will only take me another year for the whole force...

[15mm IABSM]¶
South of Cherbourg¶

The US Army models got basecoated in black with "VA74602 Vallejo Primer Black Acrylic-Polyurethane" applied through my Airbrush.

The bare metal models I de-flashed and (temporarily based) two days later, being part of the reinforcements I orderd from Peter Pig.

[15mm IABSM]¶
South of Cherbourgh¶

I removed the flash from the German reinforcements and based them.

The top two rows of the unpainted models are MG42 gunners. One is needed for the last squad, the others are in case I want to use the models as Panzer Grenadiere, where each squad had two machine gunners instead of one as with the Grenadiere.

The next two rows are additional riflemen, but these are all armed with the G43 instead of the more ubiquitous Kar98k, to get some variety.

The models glued to the wood sticks are additional crew for the mortars and tripod mounted machinge guns, to get the crew up to the number of models suggested by the rules.

After life was quite busy the last days, I found some more time to continue work on miniatures. I started to work on the missing bren gunners, when I noticed something strange about the base size of the British models I did so far:

I chose the wrong size of wahsers... facepalm

So before removing the flash from the new minitaures, I first debased the old ones. Here you can see them glued to the intended size of washer next to my mountain of stupidity...

Here you can see the models including the 8 new ones organized into squads.

[Kickstarter]¶
Dungeon Saga: The Dwarf King's Quest by Mantic Games¶

I resisted very long... honestly... but the bargain you make with Mantic Kickstarters was just too great in the end... After pledging quite late, I had unforseen problems with Amazon payments. Suddenly, the payment failed, where it was fine all the time before.

I now solved the problem by deleting my credit card with them, then entered the exact same data as a new card again... at least I am not aware of any differences. Then payment was no problem.

However, now it is official, I backed another project:

Dungeon Saga on Kickstarter

[15mm IABSM]¶
South of Cherbourgh¶

All the models got their helmets painted in 70.995 German Grey.

I then sorted out some models, painted the helmets in 74.604 Dunkelgelb and then added random shapes in green and brown (splotches, lines, etc.) to create some "Normandy Helmets". I let the grey on the underside of the helmet as some sort of blacklining and also let it shine through the dunkelgelb here and there.

I then sorted out all the models which had greenery on their helmet, and painted it in 70.967 Olive Green. This is quite a harsh green, but a more subdued tone would not be discernible, especially from the Normandy Helmets.

Finally, the officer models got painted:

Now all the models are drying, after I sprayed them with gloss varnish. This is on the one hand to protect the paint job done so far, on the other hand the varnish will help the flowing of the washes.
