[Warfork Fantasy Battles]¶
Nadir Steppe Riders¶

Today I finished the camel. On to the ponies.

[Warfork Fantasy Battles]¶
Nadir Steppe Riders¶

The horses (and the camel) were given a quick basecoat out of a spray can, as I didn't find the time to get out the airbrush. After the bases were done, I started by painting the camel.

I started by painting the main fur 72.061 Khaki, the dark fur and the hooves 72.744 Dark Fleshtone and the light fur with a mix of 72.061 Khaki & 72.046 Ghost Grey. Fur the muzzle I mixed black into the mix.

The Khaki was given a wash of 72.092 Brown, the dark fleshtone a wash of 73.201 Black. Both areas where then highlighted in the base colours.

The khaki was then highlighted further with a mix of 72.061 Khaki & 72.097 Pale Yellow; the dark fur was lightly drybrushed with 72.744 Dark Fleshtone & 72.061 Khaki.

To tone the yellow done a bit, I applied a light glaze of 73.203 Umber Wash.

The light grey parts where highlighted with 72.046 Ghost Grey.

Finally, the grey parts were washed with 73.203 Pale Grey Wash.

The red cloth was painted as follows:

  • 72.772 Red Terracotta
  • 73.203 Umber Wash

    &

    73.201 Black Wash

  • 72.772 Red Terracotta
  • 72.712 Scarlett Red

An der Fähre Village Guard Rebasing¶

This is a short revisit of an already finished project. With the second unit of the Oldworlder Ally Contingent I started to use metal bases instead of the classic plastic ones. So the bases on the village guard have to be replaced.

Removing the plastic bases was no problem, only some boots need to be repainted as the Vallejo basecoat sticked so well to the sand, that pealing the sand off the base also ripped the paint off some of the boots in one go. But this will be quickly repaired.

The plastic bases were marked on the bottom as the models only align in certain positions. With a Dremel I cut the markings into the metal bases, then painted them. There is some kind of protective coat on the metal, so I wasn't sure if the cutting would make the metal susceptible to rust.

Nordman Mercenary Journeymen¶

The Nordmen are done. In the pictures, the bigger unit is led by Halvar in his shiny cloak, the smaller unit by his brother Tjure.

I printed the banners, then partly cut them from the paper before painting them. I had several issues why I didn't first paint them (as I usually do) before doing all the cutting. One were the fringes, which needed to line up, the second was the way the larger banner pole is being held by the miniature - I was not able to wrap the banner around from the front.

For the fringes, it was relatively easy with the larger ones; the ones on the small banner I cheated with: I painted one half completely red, then only cut them from the other side in one go after the two halves where glued together.

For the larger flag, I folded the two sides of the banner not over the middle (as with the smaller one), but around the tips - first time I did that.

After the glue dried, I bent the banners into shape and added some very thinned brown wash into the folds.

Nordman Mercenary Journeymen¶

I finished the last ten models:

As mentioned in earlier posts, I saved all the horned models' horns to be painted in one group. I placed stripes of lighter colours above each other towards the tips, leaving the last colour to show through the bottom part of the next.

  • 70.822 German Camo Black Brown
  • 70.822 German Camo Black Brown

    &

    70.824 German Camo Orange Ochre

  • 70.824 German Camo Orange Ochre
  • 70.824 German Camo Orange Ochre

    &

    70.820 Off White

  • 70.820 Off White

Next up is grass for the bases and the two flags, then the unit(s) will be done.

Nordman Mercenary Journeymen¶

This day saw me finishing the skin and painting the pelts.

[15mm IABSM]¶
South of Cherbourg¶

The Army force is done. I now have an infantry company of 3 platoons each of 3 rifle squats (1 SMG NCO, 1 BAR, 8 rifles), 1 platoon of 3 60mm mortars, various big men and of course the company command with 5 bazooka teams.

The company is supported by a battallion level machine gun platoon of 4 MMGs; and is accompanied by a Forward Observer Team.

  • Rifle Company Headquarters

  • Rifle Company Rifle Squad I

  • Rifle Company Rifle Squad II

  • Rifle Company Rifle Squad III

  • Rifle Company Weapons Platoon

  • Battallion Machine Gun Platoon

  • Forward Observer Team

Some spare models that do not fit into the rifle company organization, but will certainly be of use at one point in time.
