Warzone Brotherhood Sacred Warrior¶

The tunic and gloves I wanted to keep black, for highlighting them I choose green for the tunic (the same colour I used to shade the red) and brown for the gloves. Both colours were mixed with Matte Medium and water. I then glazed the colours onto the raised areas in 2-4 steps, slowly building up the highlights.

I am not quite sure how to do the base yet, so I just painted it grey for now. The model is done.

It always amazes me how many colours I use with just a single model...

Warzone Brotherhood Sacred Warrior¶

Next step was to paint the holy book of the Brotherhood.

It was washed with Secret Weapon Washes Sewer Water, then highlighted with the base colours.

The brown was washed a second time with Sewer Water.

A final light layer of the base brown was applied as highlight.

The metal received a final edge hightlight of silver, all as of yet unpainted areas were repainted black.

The tubes were carefully highlighted with a light grey and a fine brush.

I started to paint the model. I decided for black clothing and red armour with gold decorations. As shading colour for the red I decided for green, which is the complementary colour to red. The black will also be highlighted with green to tie the areas together.

To reward Tobias with a picture if his lot of miniatures as soon as possible, I started with a single miniature, the Brotherhood Sacred Warrior.

First, I removed the paint of the half-painted model. For this I sprayed the mini with oven cleaner.

After ~20 minutes I scrubbed the mini with a hand brush, which removed about half of the paint.

After a second treatment with the oven cleaner and a hand brush colour only remained in the recesses.

These last remnants I removed with a hobby knife while also removing the flash lines Tobias missed back then.

Finally, the model was basecoated with 74.602 Black Surface Primer from Vallejo, brushed on in two thin layers.

I finished the last 6 straight pieces. One has an 8cm wide door (allowing 4 20mm bases abreast to pass), the other two have a 2cm wide door.

Next up are the corner segments.

Dwarf Reinforcements¶

I have a small Dwarf Army, which consists (except for the general and army standard bearer) only of plastic models from the 7th edition 'Battle for Skull Pass' boxed game. When we played our first 3rd edition battle, it became apparent that my models do not make up a 'legal' army, as the compulsory complement of crossbowmen is missing.

So I was looking for some cheap plastic miniatures, which will be painted as quick as the already existing army: base colours and army painter strong tone. I found them in the form of em4miniature's Dwarves. I don't think I bought cheaper miniatures, ever. There are only three poses available, but the quality is quite good, especially concerning the price.

The models come with an integral base, which is way bigger as the 20x20mm used in Warhammer, so I had to clip it off. I then trimmed the underside of the boots, and placed the models beside some of the Games Workshop ones, to check for height:

The are quite a bit taller, so I tried to get the eyes to about the same level. I cut off the boots, trimmed away the shaft of the boots and glued them back on.

Now the models are more equal in height, but I think I can cut off some more.

I cut off the bases over the last 2-3 weeks whenever I had some moments spare time, when watching tv, etc. But I still need to remove the flash from all the models...

Modular Fence System¶

The next six modules are done. These are all damaged to some degree, never thought that I would ever use a heavy hammer in my wargaming projects...

Only six more straight ones to do, those will get some more gates.

I built two helpers, one to get the horizonzal bars at the same height, and one to align the vertival end posts.

The first eight pieces are done, ready to be painted:

Modular Fence System¶

I constructed the first sections, two like my initial draft and two the way pendrake recommended over on tmp.

I think I will go with my initial design, as on the one hand I like the join between sections better (it hides the join better in my opinion) and on the other hand I only have the two half-posts at the join fix, the rest of the section I can design however I like to.

Next I will design a little helper tool that will help me to glue the half posts into place more exactly and at an exact 90° angle.

An der Fähre Village Guard¶

The miniatures are done except the bases and the coat of arms/banners. I am still tinkering with them...
