Colonists and Vehicles¶

Last post for this year. I painted the windows and highlighted the grey and blue body colours. At the moment the gloss varnish coat to protect the current status is drying.

As a last step, I added some srcatches. First, I painted lines in orange mixed with white.

Next, I painted over the upper part of the light orange line with chocolate brown.

I call them done.

The Rangers are up next, I started by blacklining them with secret weapon washes heavy body black.

Orks Marauders¶

Last five Orks for this year. 35 in total done.

Colonists and Vehicles¶

I finished the techs/paramedics.

The purchase of their ambulance vehicle is already planned.

I also continued to work on the construction vehicles, applying a highlight with the brush with Vallejo 70.910 Orange Red. Next the wheels and antennaes were painted black, and highlighted with 70.867 Dark Bluegrey. The headlights were painted white, the direction indicator yellow, the brake light red.

The windows were painted with a horizon, using blue with more and more white added for the upper part, brown with more and more white added for the lower part. Heavy Body Black (Secret Weapon Washes) was then used to blackline the windows, and very dilluted white to create some reflections.

The trucks received a wash of Vallejo Umber Shade into the recesses.

I also started to work on the colonists, painting them like the Tech Crew I already own. Three of them are going to be paramedics, in white uniforms with yellow reflective stripes. Red crosses are to follow.

Orks Marauders¶

I painted up 15 more Orks. Basically, they look exactly like the first 15, 5 in each of the three different skin shades, but this group all had some clothes painted in Khaki Grey, to get some variation to the brown.

Half of the models done :-)

[SiFi]¶
Colonists and Vehicles¶

I basecoated all the models with Vallejo Surface Primer White.

The vehicles were then sprayed black from underneath.

The smaller trucks, which belong to the technical services group, were airbrushed Vallejo Basalt Grey on the lower half.

Masking the lower half with a piece of card at the height of the mud guard, I sprayed the upper half Vallejo London Blue.

The next steps will be brushwork.

The other two trucks, from the construction services group, will be orange. I started with a basecoat of Vallejo German Orange through my airbrush, a very flat orange.

As a second step, I airbrushed Vallejo Red Orange as a highlight colour.

Again, the next steps will be brushwork.

I also sprayed the carriage with a coat of Vallejo Air Colour Rust on all four trucks, but forgot to take a picture of that.

Colonists and Vehicles¶

I built all the trucks, hid all seams/holes with Miliput and used some kind of plaster to hide the integral bases of the colonists.

While building the trucks, I noticed that one fender is missing. I will ask John to include one with my next oder with him.

Next project up are some additions to my 15mm colonists. I received an order from Ground Zero Games a couple of days ago, including 4 trucks for them. As a Christmas present, John included some freebies, which provided me with 8 new colonists - thanks a lot John :-)

Orks Marauders¶

The first 15 Orks are done. I painted them in groups of 5, taking 5 random models ignoring the final mob composition (marked on the underside of the base), to get total random composition colourwise of the mobs at the end.

Each group of 5 was painted with a different green skin tone (these three will be used across all the models).

As the dark shade will just make the metal darker, but will not add brown tones to simulate rust, I painted the first group's metal areas with Air Colour Rust first, then metal on top, leaving the rust show in the recesses - but this took to long, after all I want to quickly paint them. Starting with the second bunch, I painted all metal areas in flat silver, then added blotches of brown washes to simulate rust - this was much quicker.

With these models I left the basecoat brown on most parts of the models. With the next groups, I will add one more brown tone to each group, painting random clothes to get more variation on the Orks.

The miniatures are done as they are now, except the Quick Shade and the back plates. The back plates (and some checkers or triangular patterns here and there) I will paint after all models are brought to this stage; then by mob. The idea behind that is to have everything randomized, except the mob markings.

I hope I can keep the momentum I managed so far, then the Orks will be done until Christmas :-)
