The next six modules are done. These are all damaged to some degree, never thought that I would ever use a heavy hammer in my wargaming projects...

Only six more straight ones to do, those will get some more gates.

Dwarf Reinforcements¶

I have a small Dwarf Army, which consists (except for the general and army standard bearer) only of plastic models from the 7th edition 'Battle for Skull Pass' boxed game. When we played our first 3rd edition battle, it became apparent that my models do not make up a 'legal' army, as the compulsory complement of crossbowmen is missing.

So I was looking for some cheap plastic miniatures, which will be painted as quick as the already existing army: base colours and army painter strong tone. I found them in the form of em4miniature's Dwarves. I don't think I bought cheaper miniatures, ever. There are only three poses available, but the quality is quite good, especially concerning the price.

The models come with an integral base, which is way bigger as the 20x20mm used in Warhammer, so I had to clip it off. I then trimmed the underside of the boots, and placed the models beside some of the Games Workshop ones, to check for height:

The are quite a bit taller, so I tried to get the eyes to about the same level. I cut off the boots, trimmed away the shaft of the boots and glued them back on.

Now the models are more equal in height, but I think I can cut off some more.

I cut off the bases over the last 2-3 weeks whenever I had some moments spare time, when watching tv, etc. But I still need to remove the flash from all the models...

Tobias' Wargaming Legacy¶

Tobias was one of my regular opponents back in the day, but real life etc. made him loose the righteous path :-( He now only has some of his painted favorite models on display but does not game anymore.

Recently he cleared out his stuff and found some unpainted minis which he offered to me. When I asked what I have to pay, he only wanted to see pictures of them painted. Thank you very much :-)

Warzone Brotherhood Sacred Warrior¶

To reward Tobias with a picture if his lot of miniatures as soon as possible, I started with a single miniature, the Brotherhood Sacred Warrior.

First, I removed the paint of the half-painted model. For this I sprayed the mini with oven cleaner.

After ~20 minutes I scrubbed the mini with a hand brush, which removed about half of the paint.

After a second treatment with the oven cleaner and a hand brush colour only remained in the recesses.

These last remnants I removed with a hobby knife while also removing the flash lines Tobias missed back then.

Finally, the model was basecoated with 74.602 Black Surface Primer from Vallejo, brushed on in two thin layers.

Warzone Brotherhood Sacred Warrior¶

I started to paint the model. I decided for black clothing and red armour with gold decorations. As shading colour for the red I decided for green, which is the complementary colour to red. The black will also be highlighted with green to tie the areas together.
